Heat Pump System
A heat pump system uses electricity to generate both heating and cooling. They operate at a much higher efficiency than gas systems, however they require more electricity to generate the same amount of heat as natural gas, so heat pump systems only make financial sense in areas with exceptional rates for electricity. In more moderate climates, a heat pump can provide year round comfort, but given our extreme winter temperatures, supplemental heat is required to provide comfort on our coldest days.
Air conditioning is a part of all heat pump systems, as the heat pump system operates by removing the heat from your home’s air in the summer and removing the cold from your home’s air in the winter.
